NUTRITION & DIETETICS
The Human Services program at Dickson County High School prepares students who are interested in becoming a dietitian, nutritionist, chef, athletic trainer, social worker, or counselor. Students will take 3 courses in this pathway (Introduction to Human Studies, Nutrition Across the Lifespan, and Nutrition Science and Diet Therapy). Some of the topics taught in this pathway are human development, mental health, food safety, obesity, prevention and treatment of nutrition related diseases, and human anatomy. When students complete course 3, they will have the opportunity to earn a college credit and an industry certification by taking the TSIC exam in Nutrition and Dietetics.
"I believe nutrition and dietetics courses are beneficial because it helps educate students about basic life skills, prepares students to live healthier lifestyles, and prepare students for their role in society"
